"The Mame Matcha delighted me by how distinct it was from other Naoki matchas that I have tried (all of which were at least good, and most were delicious!)"
"I enjoyed tasting the terroir of the Mame Matcha. It is balanced and polished, with little bitterness. The aroma reminds me of pistachio and chocolate. The taste has hints of edamame, blanched spinach, and seaweed, and an even finish. It lingers satisfyingly on the tongue and is a mellower matcha."
"I found it has a fresh green aroma and hints of floral notes. I noticed a subtle yet distinct umami flavor that offered a creamy sweetness akin to steamed vegetables. It has a smooth texture that coats the tongue giving it a nice mouthfeel. Clean finish and a lingering aftertaste that is quite pleasant."
"This matcha is incredible smooth like steamed milk with very pronounced layers of flavor. Opening with a slight refreshing astringency leading into a crisp edamame flavor with a lingering lightly sweet finish. What I like most about the taste is this matcha is the incredible balance and equilibrium of all flavors you look for in a good matcha."
"I thoroughly enjoyed the strong umami aroma and taste of the matcha as usucha. The edamame taste notes may have biased me, but I did feel that the umami lended itself to that kind of flavor profile to me, especially with the smell, but overall I can say it was a very vegetal kind of umami that was pleasant, with a bit of astringency, and creamy overall. It's an interesting matcha for sure!"

The mouth feel is super soft and creamy. I drank it all before getting to my cookies. The cookies serve as another excuse to make more matcha. For science! Yes, it is delicious with chocolate. This is my favorite matcha. It doesn't have a sharp bite and still has interest without being flat. The creaminess is creamy almond milk and creamy in texture. I feel like I'm drinking summer. Not cooked enough to be winter or fall, but not sharp and floral enough to taste like spring. I have so many teas that I'm not sure I can finish. I will finish this one.
It has a delightfully fresh, sweet yet veggie aroma, which made me want to dive in and try it immediately, it captivates you from the start! As soon as you try it, you notice the very smooth, creamy texture and some deep umami and edamame notes pop up. Great Matcha makes great froth too 💚, and I love that! Overall, absolutely loved this Matcha and would encourage you to try it too!
🍃: When I opened the package, I could smell the elegant sweetness immediately. The powder is super fine, I would recommend using a strainer to sift it before brewing to achieve the smoothest blend.🍵: edamame, green bean, umami (the kind usually get from tofu)The matcha’s texture is really smooth and thick. I was surprise that the hint of bitterness didn't feel like an attack on the senses, and it turned into sweetness immediately🤩Thank you @naokimatcha for sending me their new matcha to try!😋
Single Origin Mame Matcha from Shizuoka @naokimatcha- I had this Usucha style which yielded a buttery bean umami aroma. I was struck by the full bodied edamame type flavor with what starts out feeling like you are heading to an astringent finish and then boom 💥, a subtly sweet umami 💣 finish.
Naoki Matcha has NOT disappointed me when it comes to their Matcha. As a matter of fact, I’m 4 for 4. The Single Origin Mame umami at its finest, no bitterness or astringency. My second Matcha from the Master Collection and easily one I’ll purchase again in the future. The temperature of the water even slight changes subtly but still delicious.
This matcha is super intriguing and very enjoyable. Part of what makes it so interesting is that it’s made from the (new to me) cultivar Saeakari. Saeakari was derived from Saemidori in 2011 ( ”Sae” from Saemidori and “akari” meaning light due to its bright green color). The smell was surprisingly complex, the matcha left a pleasant sweet mouthfeel, and it foams very well. I feel like I’m always drinking the same handful of cultivars so it’s super refreshing and exciting to try something new.
Umami rich, full bodied, with a remarkable lack of bitterness. I've experimented with 150°, 160°, and 170° temps... I think the viscosity & foam is best at 170°. Sadly, spring allergies prevent me from identifying all the fragrance notes... I can tel something's there, but the "volume" is turned way down. Maybe that's why the texture and thickness seems so outstanding. Either way, it's a satisfying cup.
