Why your matcha doesn't taste like the café's
9 out of 10 times, it's the ratio. Start with ours. It works with all our matcha. Follow this guide and your matcha will be even better than the café's.
Our universal ratio
We start with 4 grams of matcha
Added to 40g of water and 120g of milk, and sweetened to taste. You whisk the matcha with the water until it's smooth, and pour it onto the milk.
If you like it stronger or lighter, just vary the amount of matcha.
Choose your shade of green
Light The milk leads and the matcha stays soft.
Regular Start here. 70% say this is the best ratio.
Intense We personally love this but it's not for everyone.
The color shifts a little with the blend and your milk.

Ratio sets the strength
Matcha sets the taste
Every matcha we sell works with our universal ratio, and that's on purpose. We don't sell a matcha unless we think people will enjoy it made this way.
So it comes down to the taste you prefer. Smooth, roasty, nutty, or savory.

Questions we often get
Matcha has about 30mg of caffeine per gram. Our universal ratio has about as much caffeine as a coffee latte, and the "intense" version is like a double shot latte.
We like scales for precision, but no. Switch the recipe card to US customary, then use measuring spoons and cups.
Plant milks can intensify the matcha a little. If you find it too strong, use a little less matcha.
Not on its own. Our matcha has no added sugar, so use your sweetener of choice. We like agave nectar the best.
Same ratio either way. Whisk with warm water first, then pour into steamed milk, or over cold milk and ice.
