This matcha far exceeded my expectations. I wouldn’t say to enjoy it plain, as the astringency and bitterness definitely are there to balance out the presence of milk and sweetener, but they fully allow the matcha flavors to come through. There’s a global matcha shortage, largely fueled by overconsumption, but I find that, genuinely, only 1 tsp (50 servings per 100g bag, ~70mg caffeine per serving) is enough to get me by. As a broke college student, this also makes it a great value for the market, as other matchas can go for $100+ for the same size bag (granted they have different flavor profiles, but still).
I sift 1 tsp of matcha, whisk with 1.5 tbsp (20-30 mL) of hot water (not boiling), and add to 6 oz of Fairlife whole milk plus 1 cup of ice and 1 tbsp of agave syrup.
